완전 단백질(Complete Protein)이란?
완전 단백질은 인간의 생리적 필요를 충족할 만큼 충분한 양의 9종 필수 아미노산을 모두 공급하는 단백질 공급원입니다. 9종의 필수 아미노산 — 히스티딘, 이소류신, 류신, 라이신, 메티오닌, 페닐알라닌, 트레오닌, 트립토판, 발린 — 은 체내에서 합성할 수 없어 식이 단백질로 섭취해야 합니다.
단백질 품질은 주로 단백질 소화율 보정 아미노산 점수(PDCAAS) 또는 더 현대적인 소화 가능 필수 아미노산 점수(DIAAS)로 평가합니다. 두 지표 모두 식품의 아미노산 프로파일을 인체 필요량과 비교하고 소화율을 보정합니다. 점수 1.0(또는 100%)은 모든 필수 아미노산 요구량을 충족하거나 초과하는 단백질을 의미합니다.
주요 완전 단백질 공급원
대부분의 동물성 단백질은 완전 단백질입니다.
- 달걀: 기준 단백질로 자주 인용. PDCAAS = 1.0

완전 단백질을 섭취하면 어느 한 필수 아미노산이 제한 아미노산 — 필요량 대비 가장 적게 공급되어 단백질 합성을 제한하는 아미노산 — 이 되는 것을 방지할 수 있습니다. 근육 단백질 합성을 극대화하고자 하는 운동 선수의 경우, 완전 단백질 공급원에서 최소 2–3 g의 류신이 포함된 식사가 근육 합성 경로를 최적으로 자극한다는 연구 결과가 있습니다.
